How are Latino Gen Zers finding, ignoring, embracing or rejecting your brands messages?

Let’s ask them. In this live focus group, we engage the emerging and famously bi-cultural, multicultural Gen Zers, the under 18 year-old consumers who many predict will be the most hyper-connected  and influential generation in U.S. history.  Millennials may often vex Generation X but that’s nothing compared to what Gen Z have in store for Millennials.  What makes them tick?  How are they really using media to find or avoid brands?  Which emerging social media channels have their eye? Do they even respond to ethnic/cultural targeting? In this interactive live focus group we’ll ask these kids these questions and more.

Let’s ask them.

In this live focus group presented by LatinaMoms.com, we'll assemble a cross section of Latina moms to learn who most engages them when it comes to brands, messages, technology and cultural trends.

Among the questions we'll ask our mom panel are:

What attitudes, behaviors and beliefs do Latina moms most identify as making them feel different than non-Latina moms?

Which brands do Latinas think most appeal to them and why do they feel those brands are the most engaged  and relatable among Latina moms?

Who are the celebrities and personalities that Latina moms most relate to and why?

What social media platforms do Latina moms prefer and how do they use them to decide or not decide what they will purchase?  Which ones are most and least effective and why?

What do Latina moms say about the role of Hispanic television in their lives and what are their TV and radio listening preferences?

What cultural passion points matter the most to Latina moms for their children to sustain and how do they try to pass those cultural traits forward?

What are the top concerns Latina moms have about America today and why?  What keeps them up at night?

Marketing to Affluent Latinos
Did you know that one in three Hispanic Americans are “upscale" or affluent Latinos with incomes in the range of $50,000-$100,000 per year, representing 37 percent of the Hispanic spending power or $500 million of its $1.3 trillion buying power?
In this session we’ll explore how brands are marketing to affluent Hispanic Americans, the young and vibrant population segment that research demonstrates is highly entrepreneurial and over-indexes in many key categories that are appealing to luxury brands.
Among the questions that will be answered:-- What is the definition of the “upscale Latino” and what is the estimated size of this niche market opportunity?-- What are some distinguishing traits and habits that make marketing to upscale Hispanics different from marketing to upscale non-Latinos?-- Who are the nation’s most effective marketers reaching upscale Hispanics now and what are they doing right that others can learn from?-- What are the most common myths about marketing to upscale Hispanics?-- What are some recent case study examples of clever marketing tactics that have been used to reach upscale Hispanics? -- What type of print, broadcast and online media are best suited to reach affluent Hispanics?

Fireside Chat with Civil Rights icon Jesse Jackson, Sr. (presented by the NAHJ)

Hispanicize 2017 and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) are joining forces to present a fireside chat about leadership and community movement strategies with civil rights icon and Rainbow PUSH President the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr.

The Rev. Jackson will be interviewed by Claudia Gonzalez Romo, Chair of the Hispanicize CMO Summit and a global communications leader and political campaigner who has advocated for human rights for more than two decades. Both will be on the biggest stage of Hispanicize 2017, on Wednesday, April 5th.

Whether you agree with the Rev. Jackson’s politics or not, no one can deny that in many ways the Rev. Jackson's got the IT factor to mobilize and successfully address issues for the African American community like no Latino leader or organization knows how to do for our own Latino community.

The Moment of Truth: Where Latinos Are in 2017 and What We Must Do to Unite Now
All the hope most Latinos had to improve their standing in America was riding on the electoral coattails of Hillary Clinton.  But now that the Democratic Party is in shambles, powerless and reeling from the most stinging defeat in political history, what is our community to do?  Where are we in 2017 and where are we headed?  What have we learned and what can we do RIGHT NOW, more than ever before, to finally find our voice?

In the midst of the worse crisis in U.S. Latino history, Hispanicize convenes some of the nation's leading voices across the political spectrum and no tough question will be left unasked.  Will Latinos rise above partisan politics to finally find their unity, and if so, how can they go about this?  Political correctness just went out the window.  Join us for one of this important town halls we're confident everyone will talk about this year.

Small Biz Entrepreneurship: How to do it Smart (presented by State Farm)

Know the risks and how to protect you, your business and ideas. From replacing a lost or stolen laptop with all your contents to driving several miles for a gig, or losing internet connectivity because of a major weather incident. Have you sent a “cease and desist” letter for the unauthorized use of your content or materials or received one? Conducting business as a blogger or social media guru has its risks. But you don’t have to face those risks alone or be unprepared.

The panel’s goal is to educate you on how to detect, be prepared and face the risks affecting the small business entrepreneurs; and to find out where to turn for help and protection. Insurance is just a part of the conversation. The panel will highlight the exposure, possible outcomes and preventive measures to have in place when starting or conducting your business.  The conversation will include perspectives from experts and business owners like you!

Addressing America's Diversity from Crisis to Opportunity
Multiculturalism is under fire in the midst of the most racially and ideologically divided, politically partisan America we have seen in decades.  Fomented in part by political agendas on both extremes of the spectrum, "fake news" and more, misguided anger has cast an ominous cloud over diverse communities, the very demographic growth engine of our nation.
In this town hall, several leading thought leaders from diverse fields and backgrounds will have a candid discussion about why this is happening in America and what diverse communities, leaders and even brands can do to ensure that they too rise above the fray.
Among the tough questions we'll examine:
  • What are the implications of the hostility against immigrants for brands?  What are brands to do?
  • Are Latinos being lost or ignored in Hollywood every time Tinseltown talks about embracing diversity?  What is being done about it?
  • What policies, patterns or cultural tendencies contributed to the extreme backlash against political correctness?  Did political correctness itself run amok, and if so, where?
  • Is America ready for a new definition of tolerance?  One that can be embraced by progressives and conservatives alike?

Lunch and America Divided Screening hosted by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation

Join us for lunch and a special episode screening of “Out of Reach” from the awarding-winning docu-series America Divided. The series focuses on inequality in America through eight episodes investigated by celebrity correspondents.

As the fate of some 11 million undocumented immigrants remains uncertain, actress America Ferrera heads to Texas, the state with the longest border and home to 1.65 million people living without papers. Ferrera, whose parents and siblings are immigrants from Honduras, understands the challenges faced by the new arrivals to the U.S. fleeing in Central America. In an episode entitled “Out of Reach,” she witnesses the special difficulties for Central American refugees in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where U.S. Border Patrol checkpoints inside the U.S., many miles from the border, keep undocumented people hemmed-in and place the American dream out of reach.

After the screening, there will be opportunities for dialogue with series director Solly Granatstein and episode producer Rayner Ramirez.

This session is supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the sponsor of the NAHJ Conference.

Afro-Latinas in Social Media: A Conversation on Identity, Influence & Impact

While American Latinos are at the center of many national conversations and are an obvious force in the digital space, Afro-Latinas are never fully seen with their whole identities. In social media, this means that they are either acknowledge as Latinas or as Afro-Descendants, not as a part of a fragment [niche] within a whole [niche] identity that cannot exist without both of the cultural elements of their identities.

This panel discussion lead by a group of Afro-Latinas influencers will touch on the issues of identity and how important it is to not only self identify as Latinas, but as Afro-Latinas to highlight the uniqueness of our experiences. By examining the diversity of work done by Afro-Latinas in the space, they will discuss the impact they have on bringing light to a population that is otherwise ignored and blended into the groups they seemingly fit into.

As a part of the conversation, panelists will highlight the real impact of Afro-Latinas in Social Media: representing with diverse stories and experiences while being powerful business women that can go from fashion, entertainment and beauty to advocacy, activism and cultural education. All of that, backed with statistics that prove Afro-Latinas are a niche that has the duality to appeal to a broader audience and truly a force to be reckoned with.
