Dania Peguero, LMSW, Ed.S., Social Worker, Blogger, Body Image Activist, and Author is Co-Founder of the Black Latina Negra Bella campaign. She was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Northeast. Ms. Peguero identifies as an Afro-Dominicana. Dania is a professional bilingual expert in Child Social and Emotional Development and has 16 years of Social Work experience. In addition to her work as a Social Worker she is a Blogger, Author, and Activist who educates on the Afro-Latino experience.
She has partnered with Dove as a Self-Esteem Educator and has been featured in Latina, Cosmopolitan for Latinas, We are mitú and Cosmopolitan magazines for her work as a positive body image Activist. Dania is a Certified School Social Worker who educates others on a regular bases on issues related to diversity and culture assimilation. She has many personal experiences of her own life that she blogs about to educate and support others with her new children’s book Niñas Bellas: Come In All Beautiful, Shapes, Sizes, and Colors she has expanded her efforts to Empower our younger generation of Latinas. Ms. Peguero is striving to offer EMPOWERMENT to Afro-Latinas, EXPOSURE to an often ignored group and VOICE to the silenced.
